Les Centres Européens des Consommateurs (CEC) ont pour missions d’informer les consommateurs sur les opportunités offertes par le marché intérieur, de les conseiller et les assister en cas de réclamations transfrontalières, de leur faciliter l’accès aux procédures de règlement des litiges extrajudiciaires à travers toute l’Europe, de coopérer au sein du réseau ainsi qu’avec les autres réseaux européens de règlement des litiges comme Fin-Net (litiges liés au secteur financier) ou Solvit (litiges liés à une mauvaise application de la législation de l’Union par un état membre). 


Les CEC fournissent également des informations sur les législations nationales communautaire, ainsi que sur la jurisprudence. Ils réalisent des études comparatives de prix, de législations ou de tout autre domaine touchant les intérêts du consommateur. Enfin, ils transmettent à la Commission toute information importante à ce sujet.
